Help Me Write My Thesis
Essay writing follows a series of events. These begin with brainstorming and end with the final paper. While some students are capable of doing research, when it comes to converting their research into a properly-structured essay, they lose their minds. Undoubtedly, converting the thoughts into writing is technical. However, it can be done. After researching and scrutinizing a topic, you might like to change your thought process into a well-polished thesis statement. This thesis statement decides the course of your essay. It will also make it clear to the instructor what you plan to discuss in your essay. Thesis resides at the end of the introductory paragraph and if you wish to relocate it from there, there ought to be a concrete reason behind it. A thesis will sum up the entire essay in one sentence.
Thesis should be argumentative
Of what use is a thesis that does not lead to arguments? Therefore, you must write an arguable thesis. To decide whether a thesis is arguable or not, you will have to determine if one can argue opposite to your notion. If something does not lead to a debate, it simply means that it is a fact rather than an arguable assertion. To further elaborate upon this notion, consider for instance that you topic is ‘computers have become an ideal means of transmitting information nowadays’. This statement cannot be argued. It is more of a fact. On the other hand, an arguable statement would be that ‘computers are the reason behind an increase in suicide rates nowadays’. This topic will spark debate because most people will not agree with this notion.
Specificity buys attention in a thesis
Do not be vague when writing a thesis statement. Make sure to include the why behind your reasoning. For instance poor specificity would go something like this: “Students must not be given excessive homework.” This is too vague and may not capture the interest of the reader. Give your reader the chance to choose whether or not they should read any further. An example of good specificity would be ‘Due to the fact that excessive homework interferes with a student’s ability to absorb knowledge, schools must not burden the students with overwhelming homework.’
To sum everything up, thesis is the decisive point for any reader. If it is strong, arguable, specific, follows the ‘although and actually’ format, you are sure to make an impression. Make sure to avoid lists and write to-the-point. Do not give everything away but do not hold back too much. Give some information in your thesis, hint at the rest, arousing curiosity among the reader.
